Cafe Luitpold in Munich

Elegant shop with cute choices of sweets and cakes.

Still good goods. Corona-related limited range. Everything a bit cumbersome, more for the 70+ generation. The corona requirements are observed, even if the organization does not appear to be properly thought out.

Old shop, characteristics style, it should be top, but it is not really my taste... please test it yourself.

Certainly the best café in Munich! Elegant and cozy ambience, great breakfast and by far the best cakes in Munich! Everything is just right here!

The courtyard is super nice. This winter there is a Christmas market in the café. The cakes are of course delicious

Quite famous and high-end café in the center of the city. All food and deserts are good quality as well as fresh. The inside seating area is also quite cosy and special with its palm tree. In winter they offer home-made mulled wine and feature a small christmas market. Staff is friendly, service quick. Can be very crowded during breakfast times and on the weekend, so be sure to reserve a table.

Good cakes, but not so extraordinary that the price-performance ratio is right. I'm used to different things from Salzburg and Wörgl. Top class for higher prices, otherwise good prices for good products. But in Munich it is also difficult for pastry shops because of the exorbitant rents

Very nice staff, delicious chocolates and the coffee is really great. The prices are impressive. The ambience is very nice and you like to stay a little longer. Fast service, like to be here and will certainly come back more often. Just keep it up.

Best coffee and cake in Munich! It would be super crowded on a sunny day. Also have a look inside, they have a cool sitting indoor place with a running water fountain

Rarely had such a bad experience. Waited 20 minutes for the waiter and then he didn't even want to give the card because it was 7:00 p.m. and we only had 2 hours to eat. Then he said that half the card is up. Have gone. Last time I was there.

Very disappointing experience and do not recommend this place after several visits. In general the service is slow and unfriendly but our last visit made it clear that this place does not value its customers. So if you don’t to ruin your morning don’t go there. My husband and I waited for 10 mins in line before hostess approached us. As we did not have a reservation she said we have to wait, so we stepped a side and waited. Two couples behind had reservation but the hostess did not offer them a table also and they also had to wait for some time because the place was full so I guess the overall management is bad. After additional 20 min of waiting and seeing that several tables freed up (plus no one apart from us was waiting for the table by that time) we approached the hostess asking if we can take the table which is now free. She very rudely said “didn’t you understand from the beginning that everything is reserved and you have to wait?”. Is this is what your tell your customers after they’ve waited for more than 30 mins to get a table? After that comment we instantly left the building and will never come back to this place, thanks to the “lovely” hostess with very rude attitude.

Don’t bother! This place was recommended on multiple sites when I researched my trip to Munich. However it ended up being nothing but an ordeal. When we arrived for our reservation we were told very bluntly by the hostess that we did not have a reservation. I showed her the confirmation I received and she walked away to find someplace to put us (clearly not prepared at all to manage reservations - I saw this happen to another couple). We sat for about 15 minutes before a server approached us. Instead of being given a menu we were asked what we wanted. I asked what teas they had and the server replied “what tea do you want?” When I ordered a lemon tart I was told they were out of them. I was just at the counter so I knew they had about a dozen still. When I told him I just saw a few he had me follow him to the counter to show him (of course there were many). He left the table before getting my husband’s order. Then when my husband did get to order, they brought him the wrong cake. Were the desserts good? Sure, but there are dozens of good bakeries in the city - just go to one of them and have a much nicer experience!!

The products (pastries, tarts, cakes, pralines, cookies, etc.) are of very high quality, look very nice and taste fantastic. This also applies to the dishes in Café Luitpold. However, I did not give it the 5th star because the prices are very high. But still really recommendable! PS: You just have to eat a tart from Café Luitpold!

We were disappointed, service was extremely bad, the manager, a women between 45-50 with glasses and black hair, was such a rude creature. At first she did not come up to us for 5 minutes, constantly avoiding us. Then she said very rudely that there were no tables, the most interesting she did not offer to wait or didn’t tried to find a table. After which she twice gave the table to other people who came from another part of the entrance and they also haven’t a reservation, completely ignoring that we were there first in the queue and good to mention, not the only one there. After a rather polite remark from our side, she said that it was her job and she herself decides who to give the place to. The pair behind us, said that’s absolutely normal to hear from that women. Maybe it is a good restaurant, but the service is amazing, we have not seen this anywhere else.

We ate the last plums of the year here and it tasted even better than it looks. Beautifully decorated restaurant with a very tempting selection and courteous staff behind the counter

Tastes okay, too expensive and in general overrated

Maybe a little overrated. Solid craftsmanship. The cakes were tasty. The coffee too. It's more like seeing and being seen by women in the 2nd spring, that's how we felt today;)

It's a shame, I'm used to better things from this café. Unfortunately, half of our cappuccinos were in the saucers, you get a number for the cake and you have to wait ages for the service, who takes the number and then brings you the cake. Unfortunately solved very unhappily in my opinion. Very little value is placed on the corona guidelines. We weren't asked for contact details and they don't keep a distance here either.

Control not adequate and a limited menu. Price quality of the wine out of proportion. A lot of money for a simple white wine that was not really cold

First we ate there exceptional "eggs benedict" for breakfast. They where just awesome and so tasty! Service was a little bit slow but when they're there, they give perfect attention and are very friendly. This balances a lot and elevates the experience. We came back the next day for coffee and dessert. They have a signature dish with "white beer ice cream" and one with 3 sorts of ice and pumpkin oil and seeds. We tried both. It was very tasty and a new experience. They truly deserve their place in "Guide Michelin". Both visits the Café was quite full. We where lucky to find a place. Prices are usually 1-2€ more then in other places in the city. Let's say this, you can think about saving those bucks somewhere which is fine. But, you'll miss a very good experience. We went for it and are very happy about. You can pay by card at your place.

I had a wonderful 3-course menu with my daughter from Jochen Schweizer with accompanying wine. I am more than thrilled with this wonderful service !!!! We went to the nice Ly (loveya). I will come again but for sure ONLY with this nice lady. Thanks for this great hospitality, dear Ly, see you soon ?

It is worth going. Rich and beautiful place.

Cozy, noble ambience but no inflated prices. Food was good. Corona protective measures were not taken into account. Strangers were put together at larger tables.

Very good cakes, but also a sensational warm kitchen. The Wiener Schnitzel has been my favorite for years. The service is remarkably friendly, quick and customer-oriented. A real treat with every visit.

Long waiting times despite reservations, quite crowded inside despite Coronna, very small pieces of cake, unfriendly waiter (wanted to praise the great cake, but was stifled: he doesn't have time to talk to me now because it's busy. A praise = entertainment ??) - The "good old days" in Cafe Luitpold are finally over.

The food is good, service is exceptional. Go for breakfast, lunch , coffee and cake, or for an ice. The cakes are almost too pretty to eat. An excellent treat.

It was okay. I ordered sallty caramel kiss, it was just hot milk served with chocolate :( not what I was expecting

I and wife were looking forward to going here. But, we were really disappointed for service. No one brought us menu. If we called waiter, they ignored us. It took one hour to serve drink. But, waiter made a mistake for drink. I pointed out it. Then, he took it back with getting angry. Cake was served after 30minutes. Of course, coffee became cold. I thought I can use debit card. But, he strongly asked me to pay by cash with getting angry. Why was he angry every time?? Only waitress tried to be kind. But, I think waiter's capacity doesn't match reputation.

Exquisite cakes at exquisite prices. Worth the splurge and calories. Nice staff.

Be careful!! The WAITERS ARE CHEATING!!! It happened to me TWO times! First time: I went inside the restaurant to the bar to buy a sandwich for lunch the waiter took my card and went 2 meters away to make the contactless payment. He charged me and took 4 euros more and I didn't use any waiter service to give them a tip because I was taking away the sandwich. After 5 min I went back with the receipt to complain, he saw me and told me: "Shhhh", without even saying sorry he took 4 euros and gave me back, that means he was completely aware what he did! The other older female colleague of him was defending him with the excuse that: "It can always happen." Second time: Again I made the same order at the bar, now was the older female waiter, took my card and went away, she passed the card (I received a mobile notification on my phone that the payment went through successfully), then she came back to me and wrote the price again and made a second payment even though I was trying to tell her that she already made the payment 15 sec ago!!! I showed her my bank movements and she suddenly gave me back my money, that means she was completely aware what she did! The waiters ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE THE CREDIT CARDS away and to make the payments if the customer is not there! SO DISAPPOINTING! What a shame for a place like this.

We had given my brother and his wife a voucher from Jochen Schweizer for their wedding anniversary. They were absolutely thrilled, an excellent menu with wine accompaniment. Very attentive service staff, highly recommended. We are in Munich ourselves in October and will definitely come here. I don't understand how some can have bad experiences here

Went here ~4 months ago, so things could have changed since. Cakes and lemonades were good, but took more than half an hour of eye-tracking the waiter to just get them ordered. Not a great experience for this neck-twisting exercise.

Have to wait 15 minutes for the drinks menu at the cleared table. Even then, the dirty dishes were left standing. The service staff with bad manners. It may be popular, but it is not worth the money

A classic Munich landmark.

Was waiting for 10 minutes at the table. Then a family of Indians arrived and were smart enough to order at the bar. The waitress served them and also took drinks orders. We were just watching in awe. 10 minutes later and after we rested on the comfy chairs already for about half an hour by now, we decided that we can now keep on discovering Munich. Thanks for the free chairs Luitpold! It would had been great if we also had a dessert and a drink which is the original reason we came for.

It’s definitely a high-class experience, from the gorgeous terrace to the marvellous interior design and greenery, and the food of course: buttery and rich chocolate cake called a “Trüffel Torte”. I definitely reserve this Cafe for the special occasions. Only points off for the slow service and mediocre presentation of the breakfast.

Cafe Luitpold is actually a fine good restraurant. It is always worth visiting on a special occasion. The confectionary of Luitpold could always make my day so far. Therefore highly recommended from my side. Let me attach some sweet pictures today. ? At 5€ each you will have to enjoy every bit of it these. Restraurant. The location is Central in Munich therefore be prepared to a tight crowd. However the service is great here, it looks like the restaurant stuff is actually trained, and that is not something you get for granted these days! Again great appreciation and respect from till customer. Great political salon! Do not miss the debate of intellectuals at Cafe Luitpold!

The place looks high class from outside. There are many chocolate options. I had their crispy pork belly which I find really delicious because it’s so tender and amazing. We expect more from their hot chocolate drinks. Improvements required on that.

Tasteless, watery coffee and really slow, and not particularly polite service, even though it was not so full. Won’t be visiting again.
